Workshop numbers are limited, so early registration is encouraged. Each workshop is subject to sufficient attendance and may be cancelled if minimum numbers are not reached; in this event, fees paid will be fully refundable. All prices are in $AUD and include GST

Ultrasound Workshop

Target Audience: | This Workshop is targeted at trainees. Trainees attending will be able to meet their training requirements to complete an Ultrasound course by end of year 2. |

The aim of this workshop is to review and demonstrate all requirements for a competent execution of early pregnancy, fetal growth and fetal wellbeing ultrasounds.
On completion of this clinically focused obstetric ultrasound workshop, the delegates will be able to:
- Use ultrasound system controls to optimise imaging for accurate diagnosis
- Develop proficiency in probe manipulation to efficiently acquire
diagnostic images - Describe the limitations and clinical integration of the following ultrasound examinations:
- Transabdominal assessment at 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimesters
- Use a systematic approach to conduct ultrasound assessment of
a. Early pregnancy
b. Fetal growth in second and third trimester
c. Fetal wellbeing

This practical workshop has been developed to assist delegates gain
an understanding of the principles in managing complicated second stage of labour and to acquire the surgical skills necessary using simulation.
Learning Outcomes include:
- Understanding the principles of second stage labour and applying risk mitigation strategies
- Techniques for instrumental delivery
- When to abandon instrumental delivery for second stage CS
- Delivery techniques during CS for second stage
- Understanding the interpretation of second stage CTG and use of USS
- Techniques for Breech Delivery/Twin Vaginal Delivery/ Manual Rotation

Cultural Safety Training, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health in Clinical Practice (ATSIHiCP)

AIDA’s Cultural Safety Training, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health in Clinical Practice (ATSIHiCP), is clinically focused and designed to assist medical practitioners integrate cultural safety into their practices to improve healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. ATSIHiCP equips Registrars and Fellows in any specialty with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander holistic health and cultural safety into everyday clinical practice. Developed and delivered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors, our program is enhanced by the unique insights of AIDA doctor members and a range of clinical case studies that have been experienced first-hand by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors. |
Through developing a greater understanding of Indigenous health perspectives and by undertaking a process of investigating their own perceptions, participants commence the important steps of critical self-reflection. The program aims to inspire participants to change their own clinical practice and become an agent for change for others.

This Laparoscopic Workshop is designed to make you feel confident with minimally invasive surgery. This workshop covers the ergonomics of laparoscopic surgery, best posture for a long operating career, principles of electrosurgery detailing which instrument to choose, anatomy and the basic principles of laparoscopic hysterectomy. The second part of the workshop provides hands on experience with laparoscopic suturing techniques.

Supervisors play an important role in supporting trainees during their training, guiding their learning, helping to plan and facilitate learning opportunities and providing feedback on their progress.
The Supervisor Training Program explores the integral role of the training supervisor and delves into the issues encountered by training supervisors as they balance workplace demands, College requirements and trainee learning needs. The interactive format draws on the collective experience of participants and experienced workshop facilitators.
