Dr Clare Whitehead is a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist and Head of Fetal Medicine at The Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.

She is an Associate Professor and Head of the Perinatal Research Group at the University of Melbourne’s Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Newborn Health.

As the co-founder of PLATIPUS, she cochairs its Trial Management and Pregnancy Domains Committees and leads the PROMOAT study, which investigates antibiotic use in preterm prelabour rupture of membranes. Dr Whitehead also coleads the Innovative Trial Portfolio and previously served as Co-Chair (2020–2023) of the PSANZ IMPACT Network, supporting interdisciplinary maternal and perinatal clinical trials across Australia and New Zealand.
