Burleigh Head National Park
Discover a wild, natural headland in the heart of the Gold Coast
Why not walk along the rocky foreshore and through rainforest, see whales in spring and sea-eagles soaring along the coast. Ancient volcanic columns meet the sea in this park, which features rainforest, eucalypt forest, pandanus groves, tussock grassland, coastal heath and mangroves. Its northern side is one of Australia’s most famous surfing point breaks.

Enjoy a guided walk along a picturesque beachside rainforest walkway wrapped around the magical mountain, Jullergal.
Learn about the Aboriginal history and culture of the Gold Coast, meet a traditional landowner and hear the dreamtime stories associated with the creation of Jellurgal. Hear about traditional life pre-contact, bush tucker, fishing, hunting and important ecological practices.
Whale Watching

Curtis Falls National Park
Enjoy an enchanting walk through wet eucalypt forest beneath towering flooded gums and into cool and lush rainforest.
The first view of the falls will take your breath away. Depending on the season, a raging torrent or gentle curtain of water tumbles over huge basalt columns to the pool below. The columns are the legacy of the region’s rich volcanic history. Look for basking turtles on fallen logs and see fish and eels in the rock pool. If you’re lucky you might see the local platypus. At night, look for glow-worms in the surrounding cliffs.

Surf in Paradise
Learn to surf or stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) at some the best locations on the Gold Coast
This is designed for beginners and runs at the Spit and Budds Beach. Only a short drive from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, the company Surf in Paradise can offer either private and group lessons as well as surfboard and SUP hire.
