Her research career spans over 450 publications, with a primary focus on pregnancy-related hypertension and broader medical complications during pregnancy. Her work employs a wide range of research methodologies, including evidence syntheses, qualitative research, randomised trials, surveys, and implementation studies.
Dr Magee has held numerous prestigious leadership roles both in the UK and internationally. Notably, she served as Principal Investigator of the landmark Control of Hypertension In Pregnancy Study (CHIPS), which has influenced international guidelines on hypertension in pregnancy. Her leadership roles include Director of the Canadian Perinatal Network, President of the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy (ISSHP), and Chair of the Maternal Medicine Clinical Study Group at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the Diabetes in Pregnancy Working Group at Diabetes UK.
Renowned for her collaborative approach, Dr Magee is driven by a commitment to advancing maternal healthcare. Her experience spans diverse healthcare environments, from stand-alone maternity hospitals to tertiary referral centres, where she leads and supports multidisciplinary teams in both clinical and research settings.
