For the past three years a new process of updating and improving statements has been used and includes fellows volunteering to take part in updating by responding to an expression of interest, developing clinical questions, searching and appraising evidence, and development of recommendations. We have now updated 11 statements, developed 1 new guideline and are in the process of updating 4 statements.
Over 150 RANZCOG Fellows, Diplomates and Trainees (and depending on the topic midwives, other specialists, consumers) have now been part of a statement or guideline development group. The feedback from the members of the statement development group have been positive and many have applied to be on another statement development group.
The benefits of attending this workshop include learning about college processes for statement development, learning about the development of guidelines, receiving points for CME (EA 4 hours) and potentially OM domain (up to 4 hours) if you complete a post workshop task (appraising a systematic review using the AMSTAR II tool and/or a guideline using the AGREE II tool), as well as working alongside RANZCOG Fellows, Associates (Advanced/Advanced Procedural) and Trainees from around Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
