Pre-Meeting Workshops

The 2021 RANZCOG Virtual ASM's Pre-Meeting Workshop Program  will take place from Friday 12 - Saturday 13 February inclusive.  Below are details of the workshops available. Delegates are invited to register via the RANZCOG Virtual ASM registration portal.

PLEASE NOTE: Workshops will take place live only and, therefore, will not be available for on demand viewing post event. 

Diplomates Day One: Obstetrics

The Diplomates Day: Obstetrics program has been prepared by the RANZCOG Diplomates Committee and is tailored to meet the needs of RANZCOG Diplomates.

Registration preference will be given to RANZCOG Diplomates, with a wait list to apply for other registrants.

  • FSEP
  • Intrapartum/post-partum bladder management
  • TSH/Vit D
  • NIPT/first trimester screening/pre-conception carrier screening
  • Prevention of premature babies

Foundation Supervisor Training Program

Day: Friday 12 February 2021
Time: 09.00 -13.30 AEDT
 Registration: Free

The Foundation Supervisor Training Program has been redeveloped to provide a program that is relevant to new FRANZCOG and DRANZCOG/ DRANZCOG ADV supervisors and builds on the Clinical Education Training Program (That must be completed prior to attending the event).

The program will enable participants to receive a detailed overview of the supervisor role, discuss
relevant teaching and learning strategies, consider different strategies to assist when providing feedback and discuss the importance of the role of assessment and supporting documentation.

When registering participants will also be invited to add a one hour DRANZCOG or FRANZCOG operational update to their workshop booking. This update will take place from 13.30-14.30. 


Suitable for: New Supervisors and those who have been in the role for less than 3 years

Registrants for the Supervisor Workshop are required to complete the CET Modules as a pre-requisite activity prior to attending the program.  A link to the modules will be forwarded to you following registration.   If you have already completed the program, you are not required to repeat.

Respectful Workplaces for Trainees Workshop

The College has developed a Respectful Workplaces workshop to support the development of respectful workplace culture across training sites. The ‘Respectful Workplace’ Workshop has been developed in response to the survey that was distributed to all RANZCOG Fellows and Trainees in May 2016. The survey was to ascertain the level of bullying and harassment experienced by members and of those who completed the survey, 61% indicated that they had been subjected to bullying and harassment.

Workshop Aim
This workshop aims to provide RANZCOG Trainees with appropriate information and strategies to support the creation of a supportive and respectful workplace. The workshop focuses particularly on bullying, harassment and discrimination and how these behaviours are identified and managed.

Key Content
  • Discussion about unacceptable behaviours and how it impacts individuals, teams and patient safety.
  • Intervention strategies and responses to unacceptable behaviours as either someone affected,
  • bystanders, supervisors and managers.
  • The costs, risks and impact of bullying.
Suitable for: Only for Trainees of any RANZCOG training program (Subspec trainees who have already become a Fellow are encouraged to attend the Respectful Workplaces for Fellows Workshop on Saturday)

FSEP CTG Case Review

The RANZCOG FSEP CTG Case Review webinar is a CTG workshop based on case reviews. The workshop commences with basic CTGs and progresses through to more complex cases and traces. Anonymous online polling questions are used to gauge responses and to guide the education.

Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology Workshop

Supported by the Australian and New Zealand Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (ANZSPAG), this workshop is an all-encompassing half-day covering Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology from the ground up including management of common and rare presentations of congenital anomalies, contraceptives, pain and period problems, uncommon presentations of gynae problems in a young population.

The Pelvic Floor: Pelvic Floor Surgery and Chronic Pelvic Floor Dysfunction - UGSA Workshop

Lessons learnt in the past can help us reinvent the future. Urogynaecology has seen many advances in the past few years. With a rise in our ageing population, pelvic floor dysfunction is predicted to rise proportionately in the next few years. This fast- paced workshop addresses recent controversies and evidence-based care to help you manage your patient better. A half-day workshop is being offered at the RANZCOG ASM to meet the learning objectives of urogynaecologists, gynaecologists, continence nurses, pelvic floor physiotherapists. Traditionally hosted by the Urogynaecology Society of Australia, the program includes scientific lectures by clinical experts. The program addresses surgical challenges, chronic pelvic floor conditions and multidisciplinary management of pelvic floor disorders.
